The way to get your character save to move over you have to play. 1. Dragon Age origins then 2. Dragon Age Awakening then 3. The golems of Amgarrak then 4. The Witch Hunt If you do it any other way it won't work as i've tried it. If you do it in this order you can max out at lvl 35.

I actually use aspects of 3.5 in 5e just to add more fun for me as well as my players. The extra weapons and armor are great as well as certain monsters and even action options. Really manages to work well. My villains and official world npcs are made in 3.5. Even found a way to bring over race penalties too. I did find a way to use some Pathfinder 1e monsters, race info and armor aspects, but its mostly 3.5 and evertying works great.

2.5 and 3.5 are my favorite editions. I like choices and options.

Kind of disappointing for a 50 year anniversary. Some guy just photocoped 500 pages of archives put it on glosssy paper and published it. Art & Arcana puts this to shame, at least they went out and did research and it’s half the cost of this book.

Left out the #1 of my list: Savage Species. Used its mechanics for "races as classes" to define eight lycanthropes as playable PCs (for use in my late wife's homebrew setting, where lycanthropes were NOT monsters with powers defined by the MM, but just another person on the street, no different from an elf or dwarf). Other faves: Epic Level Handbook, Draconomicon, Weapons of Legacy. Epic was especially helpful to flesh out the Elminsters and Raistlins of my world and my wife's. Draconomicon was invaluable in reminding me that dragons are people too, and should be roleplayed accordingly. Weapons of Legacy made me rethink how I approached the design of unique weapons in my own setting. Honorable Mentions: Libris Mortis, Cityscape, Tome of Magic.

FINALLY! I've been waiting for this for a long time. I would love to run this series at some point if I can fet a group of players to sit down long enough.

You said they were 21 when they started this and you also did cut stuff from the previous adventure. did you massage the exp rewards to keep it on track or is the adventure path already stacked so there is no problem to reach the lvl goals if you skip stuff here and there or is a completionist attitude expected from an XP point of view?

I know i will probably get lapidated for this message but. What do you think about "compatibility" with these monsters for use in DnD 5e? I'm still learning to DMing and i'm beggining with 5e, and this seems more "economic" than buying miniatures.

I've run Chariot of the Gods twice, a real solid scenario! It would be fun if they released a cinematic scenario that leaned in to the bonkers vibe if Alien 4. Also I do agree that Alien is best experienced through cinematic play, but I can't shake the feeling that a Westmarsh Style Campaign in the outer rim would rule.

Hi. Regarding the bar code on the back of "Ghosts of Dragonspear Castle", the item was for sale for $29.95 as a limited release at Gen Con 2013. I pre-ordered a copy and was able to pick it up at the Gale Force Nine booth at the convention. When pre-ordered, the book also came with a free "Isteval the Paladin" miniature.

So the section for remaster terms replaced the section for travel speeds, that's the only section change. Might put a sticky note with the travel speeds on over the kinda-pointless actions symbols section 😅

I haven’t tried larger d20’s yet but they seem interesting so I may pick some up if I don’t get the other dice kit that has. It’d be nice if they just had a few general kits or class themed ones. I’d love something with more green/brown tones and less focused on a specific book but if I get one of the books that go with the few dice kits they have out then I’ll probably pick one up.

On 2E from a veteran: There is no difference in the content of 2E and 2E Revised (or 2.5 if you want to call it that), there is striking difference in the quality of the product. The unrevised version is much prettier and I find it easier to read. If I had started in this hobby with 2E Revised I would not be in it now. When I got the DMG initially, I got the Revised version and therefore didn't really read it until 15 years later when I found out there was an unrevised version and got that. Of course I recommend the unrevised, but not first printing, versions. Most of the errata "corrected" by 2E Revised was corrected in most printings of the unrevised format other than the actual first printing. If memory serves the unrevised had 15 or so print runs, so most of the copies in the wild don't have any of the issues mentioned in the known errata document. If you want a true buyers guide for AD&D2E, here are my recommendations: PHB - unrevised DMG - unrevised, and actually read it as half the game's rules are within. I played half a game for my entire 2E career lol. Monstrous Manual - Revised. The format is the same for these two books, and my copy of the unrevised actually had the errata'd errors present, unlike the other books. The Complete Fighter's Handbook - Kits and options essential to making Fighters suck less. I'd keep these options away from non-Fighters The Complete Thief's Handbook - Kits and options essential to making Thieves suck less. I'd keep these options away from non-Thieves The Complete Priest's Handbook - Allows you to build the Priests of Specific Mythoi hinted at in the core book, this is not really a reference for Clerics and Druids though there are some new spells. More like a class design system for non-cleric and non-druid divine casters. The Complete Wizard's Handbook - Kits and options essential to making general/generic Mages less... boring and merliny. I don't really recommend kit use with specialist mages though there is a lot of good info within for these as well (all only hinted at in the core book other than the Illusionist) The Tome of Magic: Basically for new specialist mages: Wild Mages and Elementalists, should you want them they are fairly well designed. Blue DMGR books and Green HR books: Get all that interest you, they are all pretty good regarding their various subject matters. Campaign Boxes: Most 2E campaign boxed-sets are bangers. Almost all are the definitive product that future versions were weighed and measured against. In the case of Planescape, absolutely found wanting. Avoid: Skills & Powers - This is where 2.5 actually unofficially started. The taint was so bad the entirety of the revised line of black hardcovers was retroactively determine do be a "2.5", years later when 3.5 was a thing and therefore there was a means of making a comparison and judgment.

Natural 20's always being critical sux. Suppose you need a 20 to score a hit. So you either miss, or land a critical hit. I had my own critical hit tables and added the SAME confirmation rule used in 3.5 way back in 1980 DMing AD&D 1st Edition. Monsters followed the same rules. Not long afterwards, I updated my AD&D 1 PHB and DMG with rule changes in ink. When 2nd edition came out, it was as if someone had read all my note and implemented them.

Nice video! I am curious about your thoughts on the announcement of a second edition of the game. I feel the core mechanics, especially stress dice, are great, but the panic system itself could use some refinement. Rules as is I think would be fine as a one shot or introduction to the game, but in the long run the panic system snowballs too easily and outcomes are very repetitive. I had some ideas for addressing this, and also adding gear dice, but now am curious and excited abilities what they may do with the new edition.

Great vid, guess we have an old hat at Info-sphere Influencing. :P Something to mention about Mechanic and Technomancer classes is that during the Paizo GenCon Keynote address they revealed they would be having a play test for them. The mechanic and technomancer play test is set to come out in early 2025. They’re also releasing asetting book called the Galaxy Guide in May 2025 before the Starfinder 2e Player Core is released at GenCon 2025. It will be mostly lore but will have 6 more SF 2e ancestries so that will be fun right?

4d6 was present and some say the default method of stat generation in AD&D1e (see DMG). Might have existed elsewhere but not in core D&D earlier than that IIRC. In interest of fairness we always had one rolling method every player abided by. If giving options as you suggest in the video I'd boost those playing 3d6 in order to compensate them for the Greek demigods rolling 4d6 and cherry picking. Give them a full HD and a rolled HD on HP and make Heracles roll his one starting HD. Something like that. Glass cannons and iron spitball straws. The point of class ability score restrictions was to restrict special classes and make them less common. As in, actually be special. Rarely worked out like that as people mostly cheated to get the character they wanted, or tended to go on unalive missions or go full death by guards until they could roll again. Lots of percentile strength scores. Way more than mathematically possible. And generally 18 Dex was better anyway lol. 2e math was getting closer to WotC math so 3d6 down the line wasn't as viable as it was in editions past. Looking back I like method 6 more than all the others specifically for use in 2e. We never used it back then, sadly. Thanks for the video.

The issue with it is that what you get is an interpretation by WOTC, thus it is the company history. I'd be curious to see you do a side by side of the WOTC book and the tfott. kom origins book of early Dave Arneson maps and writings called Blackmoor Foundations.

2nd is for me the best edition. I stop playing d&d when the 3rd was release.

The half human half horse skinned looking crearures on the front are nuckelavee, and believe it or not, they are actually fey creatures. They originate from celtic lore, favor mires and fenns, and are drawn to locations of high polution. Very cool creatures. 😁

After playing 'Castles and Crusades', essentially what 2nd.Ed. SHOULD have been if GG was still allowed to contribute to the core mechanics at TSR, I can readily say that this is the best version of D&D.

Fifth edition paladin looks a bit weird to me. It doesn't seem to have a clear theme to build around, even more than other classes in that edition. It's not an holy knight anymore. It's more like a more martial cleric with some weird oaths and far less spells. I must say that many classes in 5e feel like they are something else when compared to the earliest editions, but paladins to me are the most "else" of all.

I started playing AD&D (1e) in the 1980's. I just recently started reading the AD&D 2e books. The majority of the game seems to have remained the same, especially after all the accessory books came out with basically all the same classes, races and monsters as the original edition plus new ones. In my opinion the second edition improved the organization of the material, the spell descriptions were refined and better explained, the Wizard's and Priest's spell compendiums are awesome.

What paint did you use?

Nice review, I run a lot of starfinder games and one of then we are doing the "kingmaker in Space" AP, but as I commented I'd LOVE to be a player in this, one of the players stepped up and I am now a player in this, every other week so we have had 4 sessions, but quite fun!!

I have a complex relationship with 2e. It's the edition I have the most experience with. It's also the last edition I consider to actually be the original D&D. That being said, the 2.5 books were the beginning of the end lol
